A review is only worth as much as the method behind it. Here's exactly how we evaluate every tool, so you can decide how much to trust our picks.
What we test
We run each platform through the jobs a real home-service business does every day:
- Scheduling & dispatch — booking a job and assigning the right tech.
- Quoting & invoicing — creating an estimate, converting it, getting paid.
- The field experience — what the tech actually sees and taps on their phone.
- Setup & learning curve — how long until a non-technical owner is up and running.
- Pricing & contracts — true monthly cost including per-tech fees and add-ons.
How we score
Each tool gets a rating out of 5 built from five weighted factors: ease of use, features for the trade, pricing and value, the mobile field app, and support quality. We weight ease of use and value highest, because that's what actually matters to a small crew.
How we pick "best for your trade"
A plumber and a cleaning company need different things. So beyond an overall score, we flag which tool is best for each trade and each situation — best for a solo operator, best for a growing crew, best on a tight budget.
How money is involved (and how it isn't)
We earn a commission when readers sign up for some tools through our links. That funds the testing and keeps the site free. It does not affect scores or rankings — full stop. We will recommend a tool with no affiliate program over one that pays us, and we'll tell you when a tool we earn from isn't the right fit. See our affiliate disclosure.
Keeping reviews current
Software changes. We revisit reviews when a tool meaningfully updates its features or pricing, and we date every page so you know how fresh it is.
